WoW Classic Druid Leveling Talents
Use the following build to level your Druid with questing and solo grinding:
Loading...
This is your talent progression:
- You want to unlock
Feline Swiftness as fast as possible.
- Continue in the Feral tree to unlock
Predatory Strikes. Don’t invest points into
Improved Shred or
Blood Frenzy. Taking
Feral Charge is personal preference and can be skipped for now.
- After 3/3
Predatory Strikes continue in the Balance tree to unlock
Natural Weapons and
Omen of Clarity.
- Get 5/5
Furor next.
- While solo leveling and questing
Natural Shapeshifter has the biggest impact. If you are leveling mostly by tanking dungeons, skip this step for now.
- Complete the Feral tree.
Blood Frenzy has the lowest priority.
- Take
Improved Enrage over
Natural Shapeshifter if you are tanking for your pre-BiS gear. Take
Natural Shapeshifter for questing and grinding.
Why do other guides recommend 31 points into Feral first? These guides are outdated. When “front shredding” was a viable leveling strategy, meaning you could use Shred while a mob was attacking you, the deep Feral talents that buffed
Shred were of high value. “Front shredding” is fixed in Classic Anniversary and therefore the optimal talent priority has changed.
Can I take Furor before going into the Balance tree? Yes, having Energy when shifting into a cat is very helpful at an earlier state as well. Overall, the 10% damage increase from the Balance tree will have a bigger long-term impact in most scenarios, but the difference isn’t too big.
WoW Classic Early Level Leveling
While Feral is the strongest leveling spec a Druid has, the spec only comes online after you’ve unlocked
Cat Form at level 20. If you don’t mind the respec cost at level 20, it is more efficient to level as Balance from level 1-19 with the following talent build:
Loading...
For your early character levels, you’ll be using these rotations:
- Level 1-9: Pull enemies with
Wrath into
Moonfire and then attack with your weapon to regenerate the mana.
- Level 10-19: Pull enemies with
Moonfire, shift into
Bear Form, and auto-attack until the enemy is dead. If you finish the mob with rage left and the next enemy is close, stay in
Bear Form and attack the mob right away.
Shifting form is quite expensive. Try to avoid it if your mana is low and reduce shifting to when you need to heal yourself. Skip Moonfire, if mana is tight.
Can you level as a Balance Druid?
You can level as a Balance Druid in WoW Classic. But Balance is a relatively weak leveling spec compared to other classes and specs in Classic, while Feral is a very strong solo leveling spec in Classic. The main reason for this is, that your mana is regenerating while you are in
Cat Form fighting against enemies. You can shift out
Cat Form, heal yourself, and get back into
Cat Form after a few enemies. This lets you fight enemies endlessly without drinking or taking breaks.
Leveling as Balance Druid has downtimes, since you’ll be using mana for your offensive spells and to keep you alive. This means you have to drink after 1-3 enemies. This makes leveling as Balance less efficient compared to Feral. But it is still possible to level as Balance, especially from level 40 onwards, if you prefer it that way.
Is Manual Crowd Pummeler important while leveling a Druid?
Farming the item Manual Crowd Pummeler is not recommended while leveling a
Druid in WoW Classic.
Manual Crowd Pummeler is BiS for Feral Druids in endgame raids in Classic. But this is due to its on-use effect. Since
Manual Crowd Pummeler has charges, you will need to farm multiple
Manual Crowd Pummeler for each raid.
Since it has charges and only lasts 30 seconds, the impact of the effect on your leveling speed is very minor. The time you need to farm this item is way higher than the time you save while in questing if you’re using it. Therefore you should not be farming multiple Manual Crowd Pummeler to use them while leveling.
That being said, if you can get a Manual Crowd Pummeler while leveling, it is a good weapon for its stats at that level.
