Machinist was released on September 28 in Lost Ark NA/EU. The new Gunner class, previously known as Scouter, was highly anticipated. In this Machinist guide, we’ll have a look at the best Mechanists builds recommended by different experts.
Machinist Build Types
The Machinist (prev. known as Scouter) has two build variants with different playstyles:
Evolutionary Legacy
- Transformation build with Specialization/Crit.
- Cheaper to build because it needs fewer Tripods and only 2 gems.
- Your goal is to transform as fast as possible (2-3 skills).
- Transforming gives you a huge shield, which increases survivability a lot.
Arthetinean Skill
- Non-transformation build with Crit/Swiftness.
- Class engraving can be used as level 1 or level 3.
- This build is more expensive and squishy than its counterpart, but not more expensive than other classes.
- The damage ceiling is higher, but it’s harder to play than Evolutionary Legacy.

Combat Skills (404 points)
Note on gems: You only need 2 gems: 1 damage and 1 cooldown gem for your transformation itself (Sync Skill). These gems should be as high as you can go. The rest is optional.
Note on runes: Additionally, you should use these runes on your transformation skills:
- Comet Strike: highest Rage rune you have.
- Slugshot: second highest Rage or highest Bleed.
- Laser Blade: second highest Rage or highest Bleed.
- Echelon Beam: third highest Galewind
- Surge Blow: second highest Galewind
- Crimson Breaker: highest Galewind

If you go Evolutionary Legacy level 1 you can do a 4×3+2+1 build instead of 5×3:

Upgrading Adrenaline to level 3 will upgrade this to 5×3+1 and is the highest damage possible right now.
Gear Set
Your Relic Gear Set is 6x Hallucination. Without Keen Blunt Weapon you could go for 6x Salvation instead. Until completing the 6-piece bonus you should equip two pieces Preordained from Argos for the increased Crit chance.
Keen Blunt Weapon scales really well, but it might provide less damage than the alternatives without Bracelets (additional gear slot not yet available in NA/EU) and Crit synergy in your party.

This Chaos Dungeon build is based on the Evolutionary Legacy engraving. An important change to the raid build is, that Annihilation Mode gets your highest Wealth Rune. Annihilation Mode increases the Speciality Meter by a lot if you’re using it in a group of enemies.
