Grime-Encrusted Salvage is a new item in Phase 2 of the Season of Discovery in WoW Classic. By collecting and converting Grime-Encrusted Salvage you will receive the green crafting materials necessary to craft the new epic recipes in P2.

What is Grime-Encrusted Salvage in WoW SoD?
Grime-Encrusted Salvage is a new item in SoD Phase 2. First, you need one to start the epic SoD P2 crafting quest chain in Gnomeregan where you repair the Salvagematic 9000.
After completing the quest line, you can use the now-working Salvagematic 9000 to turn in Grime-Encrusted Salvage which converts to 
Box of Gnomeregan Salvage. The box contains 1-5 of the green crafting materials required to craft the blue materials for the new epic recipes. These green materials are the following:
Irradiated Leather Scraps (Leatherworking)
Unstable Microfilament (Tailoring)
Pile of Tarnished Gears (Engineering)
Crate of Tainted Gniodine Solution (Alchemy)
Reflective Scrapmetal (Blacksmithing)
According to player reports, the box only contains crafting materials for the professions you have trained.
The box can also contain the currency 
A Pile of Random Parts. For 3x A Pile of Random Parts you can buy 1x Ziri's Mystery Crate from Ziri "The Wrench" Littlesprocket. Ziri's Mystery Crate contains various crafting materials, e.g. 
Greater Mystic Essence, 
Deeprock Salt, 
Firebloom, and 
Truesilver Bar.
How to Get Grime-Encrusted Salvage in SoD
Grime-Encrusted Salvage drops from mobs and all bosses in Gnomeregan in SoD, including the rare boss Dark Iron Ambassador. In our first ID, Dark Iron Ambassador dropped 3 Grime-Encrusted Salvage. We’ll update this article if know if this is his default loot.
How to Farm Grime-Encrusted Salvage in SoD
You can farm Grime-Encrusted Salvage effectively by killing trash mobs in Gnomeregan with a group. If you haven’t killed any Gnomeregan bosses during the current ID, you can create a party with other players to just kill the trash up to the first boss. Don’t attack the boss. Rinse and repeat until you have enough Grime-Encrusted Salvage.
What Are Grime-Encrusted Objects in SoD?
Besides Grime-Encrusted Salvage, mobs and bosses in Gnomeregan also drop 
Grime-Encrusted Object. These items can be inserted into the Sparklematic 5200 which is also located in The Clean Room. Pay 3 silver and the Grime-Encrusted Object will be converted into 
Sparklematic-Wrapped Box. This box contains crafting materials like ores, stones, gems, herbs or bars.
